What is Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana?
Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a government savings scheme for a girl child, launched under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. A parent or guardian opens it before she turns 10, deposits for 15 years, and the account matures 21 years after opening, typically funding higher education or marriage.
It pays one of the highest rates among small savings schemes, currently 8.2%, tax-free. This calculator projects the maturity value from a yearly deposit at that rate, shows the year the account matures and your daughter's age then, and gives the balance at the end of each year.

How SSY works
Deposits are made for 15 years from the date of opening, but the account keeps earning interest until it matures 21 years after opening. Those last six years without deposits add a large share of the final value. Interest is compounded yearly at the rate the government sets every quarter.
SSY is tax-exempt at every stage: deposits count toward the ₹1.5 lakh 80C deduction under the old regime, and interest and maturity are tax-free. Up to 50% of the balance can be withdrawn after she turns 18 for higher education.
