YouTube Channel Keywords Extractor

Enter a channel to see the keywords it added in YouTube Studio, which YouTube doesn't show on the channel page.

What are YouTube channel keywords?

Channel keywords are words and phrases a creator adds in YouTube Studio to describe the whole channel. They're separate from the tags on individual videos, and YouTube never shows them on the channel page, but they're part of the channel's public data.

This tool reads them for any channel and lists each keyword separately, keeping multi-word phrases together the way YouTube stores them. You can copy them as a comma-separated list or one per line. Looking at how established channels in your niche describe themselves helps you choose your own keywords. Many channels leave the field empty, and YouTube doesn't say how much weight it gives it, so treat it as a small detail rather than a ranking trick.

How to find a YouTube channel's keywords

  1. 1.Enter the channel

Enter the @handle of a channel in your niche, or paste the link to one of its videos.

  2. 2.See the keywords

Each keyword is shown on its own, with multi-word keywords kept together.

  3. 3.Copy them

Copy them as a comma-separated list, one per line, or download a .txt file.

Example: how stored keywords are split

YouTube stores a channel's keywords as one line of text, with phrases in quotes.

Stored as
cooking "easy recipes" vegetarian "meal prep"
Keyword 1
cooking
Keyword 2
easy recipes
Keyword 3
vegetarian
Keyword 4
meal prep

Copied with commas, that's: cooking, easy recipes, vegetarian, meal prep.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I add keywords to my own channel?

In YouTube Studio, open Settings, then Channel, then Basic info, and type them into the Keywords box.

Why does the channel have no keywords?

The creator hasn't added any. The field is optional and many channels leave it empty.

Are these the same as video tags?

No. Channel keywords describe the whole channel. Each video has its own tags, which the video stats tool shows.

Why are some keywords several words long?

YouTube stores multi-word keywords in quotes so they stay together. They're shown and copied as one keyword.
