YouTube Watch Time Calculator

Paste links to any YouTube videos, not just a playlist, to see how long they take to watch in total, at any speed and at your own daily pace.

What is a YouTube watch time calculator?

A watch time calculator adds up the length of a list of separate YouTube videos. It's for everything that isn't a single playlist: a Watch Later backlog, talks a friend recommended, videos a teacher assigned from different channels, or a set of Shorts.

Paste up to 500 links and it looks up each video's real duration, counts duplicates once, and lists anything that isn't a video. You get the total at normal speed and at 1.25x to 2x, plus how many days it takes at your own daily pace. The result's address holds the video IDs, so you can bookmark the list or send it to someone and they'll see the same totals.

How to use the Watch Time Calculator

  1. 1.Paste the links

Paste video links one per line, or separated by spaces or commas. Normal links, youtu.be short links, Shorts and live links all work, up to 500 at once.

  2. 2.Press Calculate

Every video is looked up and added up. Duplicates are counted once, and links that aren't videos are skipped and listed.

  3. 3.Pick a speed and pace

Choose a playback speed and how many minutes a day you can watch to see when you'll finish. Remove any video to drop it from the total.

Example: four talks at 1.25x

Four links pasted together: talks of 18 minutes, 42 minutes, 1 h 05 min and 35 minutes.

Total at 1x
2 h 40 min (160 min)
Total at 1.25x
2 h 8 min (128 min)
Daily time
30 min
Days needed
5

days = ⌈(total ÷ speed) ÷ minutes per day⌉

128 ÷ 30 = 4.27, which rounds up to 5 days of watching.

How long will it take to watch these?

Watch Later lists, a few lectures from different channels, the videos a teacher assigned, or a handful of talks someone sent you: none of them are one playlist, so YouTube can't tell you how long they take together. Paste the links here and you get the total, the time at faster speeds, and how many days it takes at your pace.

Lengths come from the YouTube Data API, the same numbers YouTube shows on each video. Private and deleted videos can't be read and are left out of the total. The result's link holds the video IDs, so you can bookmark it or send it to someone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add up the length of several YouTube videos?

Copy each video's link, paste them all into the box (one per line is easiest) and press Calculate. The tool adds up every video's duration and shows the total, along with the time at 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x.

Can I calculate a whole playlist here?

This page is for separate videos. For a playlist, use the playlist length calculator, which reads every video in it automatically. A video link that's playing inside a playlist still counts here as that one video.

How many videos can I paste?

Up to 500 at a time. They're looked up 50 at a time, so a long list takes a few seconds.

How long would it take at 1 hour a day?

Set the minutes-a-day box to 60 (it starts there) and pick a speed. The tool divides the total watch time by your daily time and rounds up to whole days.

Can I share the result?

Yes. After you calculate, the page link includes the videos, so copying it from the address bar shares the same list.
