Export YouTube Playlist to Word

Paste a playlist link to download a .docx document with every video under its own heading, ready to edit, print or share as a reading list or syllabus.

What is a playlist to Word exporter?

A playlist to Word exporter creates a .docx document from a YouTube playlist, with each video under its own numbered heading and the details you choose listed beneath it. It opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice.

Because every video is a real heading, Word's navigation pane lists them all, and Word can build a table of contents with page numbers in two clicks. That makes the document a quick start for a course syllabus, a class handout, a team's onboarding watch list or a study guide you can annotate. Links stay clickable, and you can edit everything once it's open.

How to export a YouTube playlist to Word

  1. 1.Paste the playlist link

Paste the link of the playlist you want as a document, such as a lecture series or a team watch list, and press Export.

  2. 2.Word is already ticked

Pick the details listed under each video's heading: link, channel, duration, views, publish date, description, tags and more.

  3. 3.Download

Press Download to get a .docx file and open it in Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice.

Example: one video's section

With URL, Duration and Published ticked, each video gets a section like this.

Heading 2
3. Lists and Loops
Line
URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID
Line
Duration: 21:47
Line
Published: 2024-03-18

In Word, References, Table of Contents then lists "3. Lists and Loops" with its page number.

A document, not a spreadsheet

The document opens with the playlist name as a title linked to YouTube and a line with the channel and video count. Each video then gets a numbered heading with its details listed underneath, one per line, with links you can click.

Because every video is a real heading, Word's navigation pane and table of contents list them all, which makes the file easy to turn into a course outline, a class handout or a watch list for a team.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open it in Google Docs?

Yes. Upload the .docx to Google Drive and open it with Google Docs. Headings and links carry over.

Can I add a table of contents?

Yes. Each video title uses the Heading 2 style, so in Word choose References, Table of Contents to list every video with page numbers.

Why isn't it a table?

A Word page is too narrow for a table with many columns. A heading per video keeps long titles and descriptions readable. For a table, download Excel or HTML.

Can I include each video's description?

Yes. Tick Description and the full text appears under each video's heading. For long playlists, export a range to keep the document a manageable length.
