What is a YouTube video stats checker?
A video stats checker shows the public numbers behind any YouTube video in one place: views, likes, comments, upload date, length, category and language, plus the tags the creator added, which YouTube doesn't display on the watch page.
It also works out the engagement rate, the share of viewers who liked or commented, which says more about how a video landed than its views alone. Creators use it to study videos that rank well in their niche, marketers use it to vet a video before sponsoring or sharing it, and curious viewers use it to see a video's hidden tags. Everything is read from YouTube's official API at the moment you look it up.
How to use the Video Stats
1.Copy the video link
Any YouTube link works: a normal watch URL, a youtu.be short link, a Shorts link or an embed link.
2.Paste and look up
Paste the link above and press Look up. The numbers come straight from YouTube's public data.
3.Copy what you need
Copy the tags as a comma-separated list, or jump to the thumbnail, comment picker or channel stats tools.
Example: engagement on a tutorial
Say a cooking tutorial shows these public numbers when you look it up.
- Views
- 250,000
- Likes
- 9,800
- Comments
- 1,200
- Engagement rate
- 4.4%
engagement rate = (likes + comments) ÷ views × 100
(9,800 + 1,200) ÷ 250,000 = 0.044, so 4.4%, comfortably inside the 2–6% range many healthy videos fall in.
What the numbers tell you
Views alone don't say much. The engagement rate, (likes + comments) ÷ views, shows how strongly an audience reacted to a video. Many healthy videos land somewhere between 2% and 6%.
Tags are keywords a creator adds when uploading. YouTube hides them from viewers, but they are part of the video's public data. Looking at the tags on videos that rank well is a quick way to research keywords for your own uploads.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see the tags on a YouTube video?
Paste the video link into this tool. All the tags the creator added are listed, and you can copy them in one click. If none are shown, the creator didn't add any.
How is engagement rate calculated?
Engagement rate is likes plus comments, divided by views. It's shown as a percentage.
Why is the like count missing?
Creators can hide like counts. When they do, YouTube doesn't share the number, so it can't be shown.
Are the numbers live?
They're fetched from YouTube when you press Look up. YouTube may update view counts with a short delay.
