What is a YouTube comment search tool?
A comment search tool lets you search the comments on a YouTube video, something YouTube itself doesn't offer: on YouTube you can only sort comments by Top or Newest and scroll.
The tool loads up to 20,000 of the newest top-level comments once, then filters them in your browser as you type, highlighting every match. You can sort by most liked, newest, oldest or most replies, and narrow the list to comments the creator wrote or replied to. Results download as a CSV with likes, replies, dates and links. Creators use it to find questions worth answering, researchers to gather opinions on a topic, and viewers to find that one comment they remember.
How to use the Comment Search
1.Paste the video link
Use any video or Short with comments turned on. Up to 20,000 of the newest comments are loaded.
2.Search and sort
Type words to find, then sort by most liked, newest, oldest or most replies.
3.Filter and export
Show only comments the creator replied to or wrote, open any comment on YouTube, or download the results as CSV.
Example: finding questions about a step
Load a tutorial's 6,200 comments and search for two words.
- Comments loaded
- 6,200
- Search
- error install
- Matches
- every comment containing both words, in any order
- Sorted by
- Most liked
The most-liked match is usually the problem most viewers ran into, which makes a good pinned reply or follow-up video.
Searching comments YouTube won't let you search
YouTube only lets you sort a video's comments by Top or Newest, with no search box. This tool loads the comments once and searches them in your browser, so every word you type filters instantly, and matches are highlighted.
The Creator replied filter uses the replies YouTube returns with each comment, which are a sample of up to about five per comment. On a busy thread the creator's reply can be outside that sample, so treat the filter as a strong hint rather than a complete list.
Frequently asked questions
How do I search comments on a YouTube video?
Paste the video link, press Load comments and type in the search box. Every word you type must appear in the comment or the commenter's name, in any order.
Can I see the most liked comments?
Yes. Sort by Most liked to put the comments with the most likes first. Most replies works the same way.
Can I filter to comments the creator hearted?
No. YouTube's official data doesn't say which comments were hearted or pinned. Instead you can filter to comments the creator replied to, or comments the creator posted.
Are replies searched?
No. Like the comment picker, the search covers top-level comments. The reply count is shown on each comment.
Can I download the comments?
Yes. The CSV button downloads the comments that match your current search and filters, with likes, replies, date and a link to each.
