What is a playlist to CSV exporter?
A playlist to CSV exporter saves a YouTube playlist as a comma-separated values file: a plain-text table with one row per video. CSV is the most widely supported data format there is, so the file opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice and imports into Notion, Airtable, databases and almost any script.
You choose the columns, from title, channel and duration to views, likes, publish date, description, tags and the links inside each description. The file is UTF-8 with a byte order mark, so titles in any language display correctly in Excel. Long or multi-line values are quoted properly, so descriptions never spill into the wrong column.
How to export a YouTube playlist to CSV
1.Paste the playlist link
Copy the address of the playlist you want in a spreadsheet and press Export. Unlisted playlists work, and long ones are fetched in full.
2.CSV is already ticked
Pick the columns you want, from title, channel and duration to description, tags, likes and the links in each description.
3.Download
Press Download to get a .csv file, or tick more formats to get them together in a ZIP.
Example: three columns, two videos
With Position, Title and Duration ticked, the start of the file looks like this.
- Line 1
- Position,Title,Duration
- Line 2
- 1,"Intro, and setup",12:04
- Line 3
- 2,Variables,18:30
The first title contains a comma, so it's wrapped in quotes and still lands in a single cell.
How the CSV file is laid out
The first row holds the column names and every video after it gets one row, in playlist order. Values with commas, quotes or line breaks are wrapped in quotes, with inner quotes doubled, so any CSV reader splits them correctly, including multi-line descriptions.
The file is UTF-8 with a byte order mark, which is what makes Excel show titles in Hindi, Japanese, Arabic or emoji correctly instead of garbled characters. Lists such as tags and description links are joined with commas inside a single cell.
Frequently asked questions
How do I open the CSV in Google Sheets?
In Google Sheets choose File, Import, Upload and pick the file. Or skip the file: press Copy for Sheets on this page and paste into cell A1.
Why do titles look garbled in Excel?
They shouldn't: the file starts with a byte order mark so Excel reads it as UTF-8. If an older Excel still garbles them, use Data, From Text/CSV and choose UTF-8, or download the Excel (.xlsx) file instead.
Can I import the CSV into Notion or Airtable?
Yes. In Notion use Import, then CSV, to get a database with one row per video. Airtable's CSV import works the same way.
Can I export only part of the playlist to CSV?
Yes. Set the From and To video numbers before downloading and only that range becomes rows, which is a simple way to split a 300-video playlist into smaller files.
