Export YouTube Playlist to Excel

Paste a playlist link to download every video in any of 13 formats, from Excel and CSV to JSON, SQLite, Word and M3U, or copy it straight into Google Sheets or Notion, with the columns you choose.

What is a YouTube playlist exporter?

A playlist exporter turns a YouTube playlist into a file: one row or entry per video, with the details you choose. YouTube has no export button, so the usual alternative is copying titles by hand.

This exporter reads every video through the YouTube Data API and builds the file in your browser in any of 13 formats. Excel and CSV suit sorting and planning, JSON, XML, YAML and SQLite suit scripts and databases, Word suits handouts, bookmarks and M3U suit browsers and media players. You choose up to 20 columns, from title and duration to views, tags and the links inside each description, and can export a range instead of the whole playlist.

How to export a YouTube playlist to Excel

  1. 1.Paste the playlist link

Copy the address of a public or unlisted playlist from YouTube and press Export. All of its videos are fetched first, so a 2,000-video playlist works as well as a short one.

  2. 2.Choose the columns

Pick what each row holds: title, channel, duration, views, likes, comments, publish date, link, thumbnail, description, tags, and the hashtags, emails and links in each description.

  3. 3.Pick formats and download

Tick one format for a single file or several for a ZIP, or tick none to get all 13. You can also copy the rows for Google Sheets or Notion.

Example: a reading list for a class

A teacher exports a 25-video lecture playlist with four columns ticked and Excel selected.

Columns
Position, Title, Duration, URL
Rows
1 header row + 25 video rows
Duration column
text like 1:02:03, plus seconds and minutes for sums
File
playlist-name.xlsx with a frozen, filterable header

Ticking CSV and Word as well downloads a ZIP with all three files, built from the same 25 rows.

Why export a playlist to a spreadsheet

A spreadsheet is the easiest way to plan a course, share a reading list with a class, keep an archive of a channel's series, or sort a playlist by views or date. YouTube has no export button, so this tool reads the playlist through the YouTube Data API and builds the file for you.

The Excel file has a bold, frozen header row, filters on every column and clickable links. Durations come as 1:02:03 text, plain seconds and minutes, so you can add them up with a formula. Titles in any language open correctly, in Excel too.

Frequently asked questions

How do I export a YouTube playlist to Excel?

Paste the playlist link above and press Export, pick the columns you want, tick Excel and press Download. The .xlsx file opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice.

Which formats can I export to?

CSV, Excel (.xlsx), Text, Bookmark HTML, JSON, Markdown, XML, HTML, YAML, SQLite, Word (.docx), M3U and M3U8. One ticked format downloads as a single file. Several, or none, download together as a ZIP.

Can I export video descriptions and tags?

Yes. Tick Description, Tags, Likes, Comments, or the hashtags, emails and links found in descriptions, and they're looked up for every video before you download. Deleted and private videos have none.

How do I get a playlist into Google Sheets?

Press Copy for Sheets, open a sheet, click cell A1 and paste. Each column lands in its own cell. You can also upload the .xlsx or .csv file to Google Drive and open it with Sheets.

Can I export my Watch Later or Liked videos?

No. Watch Later and Liked videos are private to your account and the tools never sign in to YouTube. Copy the videos into a public or unlisted playlist first, then export that.
