YouTube Region Restriction Checker

Paste a video link to see whether it's available everywhere, blocked in some countries or limited to a few, and check any country by name.

What is a YouTube region restriction checker?

A region restriction checker shows the countries where a YouTube video can or can't be played. Uploaders and rights holders can either block a video in a list of countries or allow it only in a list, and YouTube's API reports that list as two-letter country codes.

The tool turns those codes into country names, tells you which kind of restriction applies, and lets you check any single country. It explains a "video unavailable in your country" message, helps you confirm a music video or sports clip will play for an audience abroad before you share or embed it, and lets creators check the territories set on their own uploads. Blocks that aren't in the public data, such as some legal removals, can't be shown.

How to check if a YouTube video is blocked in a country

  1. 1.Paste the video link

Paste the link of the video that won't play somewhere, or one you plan to share abroad, and press Check.

  2. 2.See the restriction

Find out whether the video has no country limits, a list of blocked countries or a list of the only countries it plays in.

  3. 3.Check a country

Pick any country to see whether the video can be watched there, and copy the full list as codes or names.

Example: a video allowed in three countries

Suppose YouTube reports an allowed list for a video rather than a blocked list.

Restriction type
Only allowed in some countries
Allowed
US (United States), CA (Canada), GB (United Kingdom)
Check: India (IN)
Blocked
Check: Canada (CA)
Available

With an allowed list, every country not on it is blocked, so viewers in India would see the unavailable message.

Where a video can be watched

Uploaders and rights holders can limit a video by country in two ways: block it in a list of countries, or allow it only in a list. YouTube's API reports whichever list a video has, as two-letter ISO country codes, and this tool turns it into country names.

It's the quickest way to understand a 'not available in your country' message, check a music video or sports clip before sharing it abroad, or confirm the countries you set on your own upload.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a video say it's not available in my country?

Usually because the uploader or a rights holder blocked it there. Paste the link here to see the list. Some blocks, like certain copyright claims and legal removals, aren't in the public data.

Does it catch every kind of block?

No. It shows the country list YouTube's API reports. Age restrictions, private videos and some country-specific copyright or legal blocks aren't included.

What are the two-letter codes?

ISO 3166-1 country codes, such as US for the United States, GB for the United Kingdom and IN for India. Each code is shown with its country name.

Can I check a country that isn't listed?

Yes. Pick it in Check a country. If the video only allows some countries, any country not on that list is blocked.
