Lorem ipsum is the standard placeholder text of printing and design: paragraphs of pseudo-Latin used to fill a layout before the real words are written. It lets designers, developers and clients see how text will flow in a website, app, poster or document without being distracted by meaning.

This generator produces any number of paragraphs, sentences or words, optionally starting with the familiar "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit", and can wrap each paragraph in HTML tags ready to paste into a template. Word and character counts are shown for checking against a design's limits.

Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum, written in 45 BC. Printers used it as filler type, and it reached a wider audience through Letraset transfer sheets in the 1960s and desktop publishing software later.
