QR Code Generator

Make a QR code for a link, Wi-Fi network, email, phone number, SMS or any text, and download it as a sharp SVG or PNG. No sign-up, no tracking, no expiry.

What is a QR code generator?

A QR code generator turns a link or piece of text into a square barcode that a phone camera can read. QR codes, invented by Denso Wave in 1994, are now everywhere: payment stickers, restaurant menus, event tickets, product packaging and posters.

This generator creates codes for links, plain text, Wi-Fi networks, email addresses, phone numbers and SMS messages. You can choose the error correction level and colours, see the code update live, and download it as a scalable SVG for print or a 1,024-pixel PNG. Everything is generated in your browser, so private details such as a Wi-Fi password are never uploaded.

How to use the QR Code Generator

  1. 1.Choose what it opens

A link, plain text, Wi-Fi login, email, phone call or SMS.

  2. 2.Fill in the details

The QR code updates as you type. Wi-Fi passwords are never saved or sent.

  3. 3.Style and download

Pick colours and error correction, test with your phone, then download SVG for print or PNG.

Example: a link to this site

Encoding https://zapkit.org at the default settings:

Content
https://zapkit.org (18 characters)
Error correction
Medium (15%)
Size
25 × 25 modules (QR version 2)
Downloads
SVG, PNG at 1,024 px

Short links make the smallest, fastest-scanning codes; very long URLs are worth shortening first.

Static codes that never expire

These are static QR codes: the link or text is stored in the pattern itself, so the code works forever and doesn't pass through anyone's server. Many "free" generators make dynamic codes that redirect through their site and stop working when a trial ends.

Error correction adds redundancy so a code still scans when part of it is dirty or covered: Low recovers about 7%, Medium 15%, Quartile 25% and High 30%, at the cost of a denser pattern. Keep a dark code on a light background; inverted or low-contrast colours fail on many phones.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They're static, with the content inside the code, so they work as long as the link they point to works.

How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?

Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name and password, and print the code. Phones join the network when they scan it.

SVG or PNG?

SVG for printing at any size, from business cards to banners; PNG for documents, slides and messaging apps.

How much can a QR code hold?

Up to about 4,000 characters of text, but short content gives a simpler code that scans faster.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The code is drawn in your browser.
