Volume Converter

A volume converter changes a quantity of liquid or space between units such as litres, millilitres, gallons, cups and cubic feet. It's handy in the kitchen when a recipe uses cups and spoons, at the fuel pump or for car specifications in gallons, and for tanks, aquariums and shipping containers in cubic units.

Pick the units you have and want, enter the amount, and the converter shows the exact result along with every other unit. US and UK gallons are listed separately, because the difference between them is large enough to matter.

A US gallon is 3.785 litres but a UK (imperial) gallon is 4.546 litres, about 20% more, so always check which a fuel figure or recipe means. Cooking measures here are US customary: a cup is 236.6 ml, a tablespoon 14.8 ml and a teaspoon 4.93 ml.

Indian and many other recipes use metric cups of 250 ml and tablespoons of 15 ml, close enough to the US measures for most cooking but not for baking at scale.
