Days Until: Countdown Timer

Count down to an exam, a trip, a launch or New Year in days, hours, minutes and seconds, and share the countdown with a link.

What is a countdown timer?

A countdown timer shows how much time is left until a moment you care about, updating every second. Seeing "42 days, 6 hours" makes a deadline feel real in a way a calendar date doesn't, which is why students use countdowns for exams and teams use them for launches.

This one counts down to any date and time you choose, labels it with your own event name, and gives you a link that reopens it, so you can bookmark it or send it to friends. Presets cover fixed-date occasions such as New Year, Valentine's Day, India's Independence Day and Christmas.

How to use the Days Until: Countdown Timer

  1. 1.Pick the occasion

Choose a preset like New Year, or name your own event.

  2. 2.Set the date and time

The countdown runs to that moment in your own time zone.

  3. 3.Share it

Copy the link and anyone who opens it sees the same countdown, ticking live.

Example: New Year 2027

Opened at 10:00 am on Tuesday 3 November 2026, counting down to 1 January 2027 at midnight:

Days
58
Hours
14
Minutes
0
Total days, by date
59

At 10 am a morning has already gone, so the live timer shows 58 days and 14 hours rather than a full 59 days.

How the countdown works

The target is the date and time you set, in your device's own time zone, and the timer recalculates every second from your device's clock. Once the moment passes it switches to counting how long ago it was.

Fixed-date presets such as New Year or Christmas always jump to their next occurrence, so the same link keeps working year after year.

Frequently asked questions

How many days until New Year?

Choose the New Year preset. From 3 November 2026 it's 59 days to 1 January 2027.

Can I share my countdown?

Yes. The event name, date and time are in the page address, so copy it and send it.

What time zone does it use?

Yours. A friend in another country sees the countdown to the same clock time in their own zone.

Does it keep running in the background?

It reads the clock each time it updates, so it's accurate whenever you look, even after the tab was hidden.
