Image Converter

Change images between JPG, PNG and WebP, including iPhone HEIC photos. Convert one file or a batch of 30, with quality and background options, all inside your browser.

What is an image converter?

An image converter re-saves a picture in a different file format, such as turning an iPhone HEIC photo into a JPG that any app accepts, or a heavy PNG screenshot into a lighter WebP for a website. The pixels stay the same size; only the way they're stored changes.

This converter handles batches of mixed files at once and redoes them instantly when you change the format or quality. It decodes each image with your browser, draws it to a canvas, and encodes it again in the format you picked, so nothing is uploaded and it works on phones as well as laptops.

How to use the Image Converter

  1. 1.Add images

Choose JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or HEIC files. You can mix formats in one batch.

  2. 2.Choose the new format

Pick JPG, PNG or WebP. For JPG and WebP, set the quality; for JPG, pick the colour that fills transparent areas.

  3. 3.Save the files

Download them one by one, or as a ZIP when you converted several.

Example: iPhone photos for a government form

Three HEIC photos that a portal rejects because it only accepts JPG:

Input
3 HEIC files, 4032 × 3024 px each
Convert to
JPG at 90% quality
Output
3 JPG files, still 4032 × 3024 px
Typical size
roughly 1.5–2 times the HEIC file
Download
one ZIP with the 3 JPGs

HEIC is more efficient than JPG, so the converted files are bigger. If the portal also has a size limit, run them through the image compressor afterwards.

Which format should I use?

JPG works everywhere and suits photos, but it has no transparency. PNG is lossless and keeps transparent backgrounds, which makes it right for logos, icons and screenshots with text, though photos come out large. WebP does both jobs and is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality; every current browser shows it, though some older apps and government portals still ask for JPG.

HEIC is the iPhone camera format. Only Safari can open it natively, so on other browsers this page loads a small decoder the first time you add a HEIC file.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEIC to JPG on Windows or Android?

Add the HEIC photos here and choose JPG. The decoder runs in your browser, so you don't need to install anything or upload your photos.

Why did my transparent PNG get a white background?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with the colour you pick. Choose PNG or WebP to keep the transparency.

Does converting reduce quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless. JPG and WebP at 90% look the same as the original to most eyes; lower settings trade detail for size.

Can I convert to WebP in every browser?

Chrome, Edge, Firefox and their Android versions can save WebP. Some browsers, Safari in particular, can open WebP but not write it from a web page; the tool tells you when that happens, so pick JPG or PNG there.
