Split PDF

Break a long PDF into parts, pull out just the pages you need, or save every page as its own file. Type page ranges or pick a chunk size, and download the results as a ZIP.

What is a PDF splitter?

A PDF splitter divides one PDF into smaller files, or copies selected pages into a new one. People use it to separate chapters of a book, send only the relevant pages of a long report, break a combined scan into individual documents, or get under an upload size limit.

This splitter offers three ways to cut: your own page ranges, fixed chunks of a set number of pages, or one file per page. It shows how many files your settings will make before you press Split, names each file after its pages, and packs several results into a ZIP. The work happens in your browser, so private documents stay on your device.

How to use the Split PDF

  1. 1.Choose a PDF

Its page count is shown so you can plan the ranges.

  2. 2.Pick how to split

Type page ranges separated by commas, choose a number of pages per file, or save every page on its own. To pull pages out into one file, tick the option under the ranges.

  3. 3.Split and download

One result downloads as a PDF; several come as a ZIP, or one at a time from the list.

Example: three parts from a 20-page report

A 20-page PDF split with the ranges 1-3, 4-10, 11-:

Part 1
pages 1-3 (3 pages)
Part 2
pages 4-10 (7 pages)
Part 3
pages 11-20 (10 pages)
Every 5 pages, 23-page PDF
5 files: 5, 5, 5, 5 and 3 pages

The three parts download together as report-split.zip, with files named report-pages-1-3.pdf, report-pages-4-10.pdf and report-pages-11-20.pdf.

Writing page ranges

Each comma starts a new file. A single number is one page, 2-6 is pages 2 to 6, 8- runs from page 8 to the end, and -3 means pages 1 to 3. So 1, 2-5, 6- makes three files. With "Put all the chosen pages in one PDF" ticked, 1, 4, 9-10 makes one four-page file instead, in the order you typed.

Pages are copied without any change in quality, and the original PDF isn't modified.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract one page from a PDF?

Type its number, such as 7, in the ranges box and split. You get a one-page PDF.

How do I split a PDF into single pages?

Choose Every page. A 20-page PDF becomes 20 files in one ZIP.

Can I reorder pages while extracting?

Yes. With the one-PDF option ticked, pages come out in the order you type them, so 3, 1, 2 puts page 3 first.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not until the password is removed, because its contents are encrypted.
