What is an age calculator?
An age calculator works out how old someone is from their date of birth, to the day. It's quicker and more reliable than counting on your fingers, especially across month ends and leap years, and it can measure age on any date, not only today.
People use it to check eligibility for exams, jobs and government schemes that set an age limit on a cut-off date, to fill in forms that ask for age in years and months, or simply to see how many days old they are. This calculator also gives the total months, weeks and days, the weekday of birth, and how many days remain until the next birthday.
How to use the Age Calculator
1.Enter the date of birth
Pick it from the calendar or type it. Any date from the past works.
2.Choose the date to measure to
It's today by default. Pick another date to find an age on an exam cut-off or a form's reference date.
3.Read the age
See years, months and days, the totals in months, weeks and days, and the next birthday.
Example: born 15 January 2000
Measured on 3 November 2026:
- Age
- 26 years, 9 months, 19 days
- Total days
- 9,789
- Born on a
- Saturday
- Next birthday
- 15 January 2027, turning 27
- Days to go
- 73
Dividing 9,789 days by 365 gives 26.8 years, close but not exact; counting on the calendar avoids that rounding.
How age is counted
Age is counted the way people do on a calendar: whole years first, then whole months, then the days left over. From 15 January 2000 to 3 November 2026 that's 26 years, 9 months and 19 days. Months have different lengths, so the day count after the months depends on the actual dates, which is why simple day-division gives slightly wrong answers.
Someone born on 29 February has a birthday on 28 February in common years here, which is the convention most forms and many countries' laws use. The weekday shown is the day of the week of the birth date itself.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my exact age?
Enter your date of birth. The calculator counts complete years, then complete months, then the remaining days up to today.
How do I find my age on a specific date?
Change the "Age on" date. Exams and government forms often ask for age on a cut-off date such as 1 August.
What if I was born on 29 February?
Your birthday falls on 28 February in years without a leap day, so the countdown uses that date.
Is my date of birth saved?
No. It's only kept in the page address so you can bookmark or share the result; nothing is sent to a server.
