What is a date difference calculator?
A date difference calculator counts the time between two dates in days, and breaks it down into years, months and days, weeks, and working weekdays. It saves counting across months of different lengths and leap years.
It's useful for deadlines and notice periods, the days left in a project, the length of a loan or rental agreement, the number of working days in a sprint, or the gap between two events. The second panel does the reverse: add or subtract a number of days from any date, as when a form says "within 45 days of the invoice".
How to use the Date Difference Calculator
1.Pick the two dates
Choose a start and an end date. Their order doesn't matter.
2.Decide on the end date
Tick inclusive if both the first and last day should count, as for a leave period or a hotel booking's nights plus one.
3.Add or subtract days
Use the second panel to find a date 30, 90 or any number of days away.
Example: 100 days from 3 November 2026
From Tuesday 3 November 2026 to Thursday 11 February 2027:
- Total days
- 100
- As weeks
- 14 weeks 2 days
- Calendar breakdown
- 3 months 8 days
- Weekdays (Mon–Fri)
- 72
Counting both dates inclusively makes it 101 days.
Counting days correctly
The total is the number of midnights between the two dates, so 1 to 2 March is one day. Inclusive counting adds one, which is what you want when both dates are working days of a leave request.
Weekdays counts Monday to Friday only, without public holidays, which vary by country and state. The years, months and days breakdown follows the calendar, so a span that starts on 31 January moves through February correctly.
Frequently asked questions
How many days are there between two dates?
Pick both dates and read the total. 3 November 2026 to 11 February 2027 is 100 days.
Does it count the start and end day?
By default it counts the start but not the end. Tick inclusive to count both.
Are public holidays taken off the weekdays?
No, only Saturdays and Sundays. Subtract your local holidays yourself.
How do I find the date 90 days from today?
In Add or subtract days, leave the start as today and enter 90. Use a minus sign to go back.
