Social Media Image Size Guide

Pixel sizes and aspect ratios for posts, stories, covers, banners and profile photos on every major platform, with a one-tap link to resize your photo to fit.

What is a social media image size guide?

A social media image size guide lists the dimensions each platform recommends for each kind of image, so you can design or crop once and upload without surprises. Sizes differ between a feed post, a story, a cover and a profile photo, and between platforms.

This guide covers 20 placements on Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, WhatsApp and website link previews. Each entry shows the size in pixels, the aspect ratio, a scaled shape and a note on what gets cropped or covered. You can filter by platform, copy a size, or jump to the resizer set to it.

How to use the Social Media Image Size Guide

  1. 1.Choose a platform

Or keep All to see every size together.

  2. 2.Check the shape and note

Each size shows its ratio, a shape preview and what gets cropped or covered.

  3. 3.Copy or resize

Copy the size, or open the social media image resizer already set to it.

Example: one photo, three placements

Where a single landscape photo might go:

Instagram portrait post
1080 × 1350 (4:5)
LinkedIn post image
1200 × 627 (about 1.91:1)
YouTube thumbnail
1280 × 720 (16:9)

Three different shapes from one photo: the resizer can crop each to fit, choosing which part of the picture stays.

Why the right size matters

Platforms resize and crop anything that doesn't match. An off-ratio image gets cropped where the app decides, and a small one gets stretched and blurred. Uploading at the recommended size and shape keeps text readable and faces uncut.

Banners and covers are the trickiest: they show differently on phones and desktops, and profile photos sit on top of them. Keep important content in the middle of any banner.
